While I try to come up with a creative title for this post, I guess I can tell you about my week. It would be fun to just list everything I did, and have you all feel glad that this part of your life is over, but I won't do that. In stead, maybe I'll just tell you how I'm feeling. That's the most important part, right? Or something...
My week started/always will start with an incredibly full day. 3 classes, one right after the other. Conducting at 1:00pm, followed by Lyric Diction, and then History of Greece and Rome. Which is fine. Or it would be, if not for the fact the Lyric Diction is the most dull class on earth. The prof is confused, only gives us half of the worksheets, mumbles, offers awkward examples, and confuses the crap out of a friend of mine, who's from England. Which would make sense, if you had any idea what this class is about. Basically, it's learning IPA, or the International Phonetic Alphabet. It's got an entirely different set of "letters" (a lot are Greek symbols. There you go, Dad), which are meant to represent the sounds that letter combinations in different languages have. It's all very confusing. The reason that my British friend is more confused than the rest of us is because how you spell something in IPA is completely dependent on the way you say a word. It's tough. And did I mention dull?
I love Conducting though. It's very fun. And History of Greece and Rome is one of my favourite classes. The prof is so pumped up about the topic he's teaching, he got to visit Greece this past summer, it's very easy to get excited! Except I'm exhausted by the time Lyric Diction is over. It's then really hard to enjoy the next class.
Well, I have an audition tomorrow for Opera Workshop, so I'm going to sleep soon. I'll try to update this more often!
xoxo
p.s. yeah, couldn't come up with a good title
